Olympic Torch Relay Team

On January 6th in Gimli at 10:00am on 2nd Ave, eleven Selkirk Dolphin Team members carried the Olympic Torch in the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. The 20 person Team is representing the SOGO ACTIVE  M anitoba Provincial Team for the Selkirk Community Pool. The Dolphins members are in order of the run - Robin, Brandon, Shane, Gio, Cailyn, Shannon, Larissa and Meaghan, Head Coach Michelle, assistant coach Lynn and parent chaperone Terina, also former swimmer Twylla .

Congratulations to Robin, Larissa and Raylene:Robin and Raylene had 100 % improvement in their swims. Robin finished the weekend earning the team 20 points by placing 11 in the 50 breast, 15th in the 100 breast and 7th in the 200 breast. Raylene's top finish was 18th in the 50 back and Larissa's top finish was 17th in the 50 fly.

We will not be participating in the Pre-comp meet this weekend.

Pre-competitive Meet will be held in Winnipeg on December 19th if you did not receive a permission slip please contact your swimmers coach.

The Swim Meet in Kenora was exciting. 9 swimmers attended.  Wow! did we ever do good.

Raylene our newest competitor captured 2 1sts, 3 4ths, 1 5th and 1 6th, and achieved 4 A times.

Matthew our youngest competitor finished with 4 1sts and 4 2nds. Following in his younger brothers footsteps is Robin with 7 1st and 2 2nds.

Nicole who just changed age groups finished with 1 1st, 1 2nd, 2 3rds  a 5th and 6th.

Cailyn in a tough age group finished with 3 1st, 1 2nd, 1 4th, and 3 5ths.

Meaghan gave the competition a run with a 2nd 2 3rds, and a 6th place finish.

Shane finished in the top 5 with the following: 1st, 4-2nd, 3 3rd, and 5th.

Brandon finished with a stong Sunday collecting 3 - 1st, 3 - 2nd, 1 - 3rd and a 4th.

Larissa our oldest young competitior finished 1st in all 9 events.

Our next meet is Prairie Winter Invitational December 3 - 6th come out an cheer the team on.

The focus this year will be to build the team numbers going to various qualifying and championship meets and prepare us for Qualifying for the Western Canada Games in 2011 in Kamloops B.C.

Congratulations to the Swimmers who attended the competition in Brandon this past weekend. The team of 15 Achieved 99% personal best times finishing 8th overall out of 13 teams competing.

Larissa attended a swim meet with the University of Manitoba in Grand Forks this past weekend and did great. She had 2 top 8 finishes. Congrats

Awards Luncheon and Windup

Congratulations to all swimmers for their tremendous efforts and achievements this year. Stroke Awards and Record holders will be announced in September. Date to be announced.
