Our youngest teammate, Veronica, finished 1 st alternate in 50 back and 50 fly and 100% improvement in all her swims.

Our newest Provincial qualifier Alyssa had exceptional swims despite her flaring fever all weekend. Unable to compete in finals Saturday night due to illness she made a comeback Sunday morning to capture a Silver medal in the 50 Butterfly.

Meaghan too had been hit by fever the week of Provincials but, with proper nutrition and hydration finished 5 th in the 50 and 100 Breast stroke, 7 th in the 200 Breast and 400 free and 9 th in the 100 back.

Shannon, the fearless butterflier finished with Silver in the 200, Gold in the 1500 Free and 6 th in the 200 free.

Seth collected Gold in 200 & 1500 free, 400 IM and 200 back, silver in 50fly and 400 free.

Swimmer of the Meet goes to Larissa who won High Point for her age group. She won 5 Gold – 50 fly, 50 & 100 Breast, 200 free and IM, Silver in 200 Breast, Bronze in 400 free and 6 th in 100 back.

Robin swam hard which earned him Gold in 50 & 200 back, 200 & 400 IM and Silver 50 free, 100 back. Robin will be competing at Man Sask  next weekend as well.

Where Friends Meet Team Report

Program meet results. This being the final qualifying meet before provincials results from the Where Friends Meet competition on May 30 –31 were very good..

Congratulations goes out to Alyssa for achieving 1 ‘A’ time in each of the 100 and 200 back.

Our ability to improve on distance events is great and now we need to improve on the sprint aspects of competitive swimming.

For many of our 14 competitors who attended, this was their first year of competitive swimming and their second long course swim meet and all placed in the top 16 in at least 1 event.

Top 8 place finishers were: Matthew, Robin, Shannon, Larissa, Seth, Shane, Arthur, Evan, Brandon, and Meaghan.

Honourable Mention goes out to Madison, Alyssa, Lindsay and Janine.

Well done Team.

Golden Plains Invitational Team Report

On April 30 th, 8 qualified Dolphin swimmers competed at the Golden Plains Invitational.

This being only our 2 nd long course meet of the season, all the swimmers did extremely well considering four were absent for a week up to the last day prior to competition.

During the competition two swimmers missed 1, of the 4 days due to illness.

This years event was the Qualifying meet for the Canada Games despite any of our swimmers being old enough at this time to compete in the Senior open category it gave them an opportunity to swim with some of the best in Canada and who will be representing our Province August in P.E.I.

All the results posted were based on their converted 25-meter times. The advantage or disadvantage to competing in long course is the turns. If you have good turns you will have faster times in short course if not then you have to kick harder and reach just a bit farther with every stroke.

Cailyn finished very well she qualified in the 100 breast stroke final and placed 10 th other top 16 or better finishes were 50 back, 50 breast and 200 IM.

Shannon has been working hard throughout the year her best finish was in her 200 back.

Meaghan has been battling injury for most of the year, despite that she has improved her leg power and returned for finals in 2 events, 12 in 200 Breast and 16 in 100 Breast.

Seth swam extremely well finishing 1 st 50 Breast, 3 rd 50 Back, 11 th 50, and finished 7 th 50 free, 14 th 200 free, 4 th 100 breast and 10 th 200 IM in finals.

Brandon also had his game on, swimming 2 finals and finishing 10 th 100 Back and 14 th 200 Back.

Close behind Brandon was Shane qualifying for finals and finishing 14 th 100back.

Larissa the newest member of our team had very stiff competition over the weekend finishing 20 th overall in the senior women's category and an impressive 50 fly PB and 13 th place finish.

Robin was swimmer of the meet with 4 personal best times and finals in 6 events

1 st 50 breast, 3 rd 100 breast 4 th 200 breast, 10 th 400 free, 13 th 50 free and 200 free, 15 th 100 free and 16 th 100 back.

The Dolphins Team finished 12 of 19 Teams. Way to Go TEAM
