Selkirk Dolphins Swimming Club

History

The Dolphin Swim Club of Selkirk has been in existence since 1979. It took a swimmer, a couple of parents, a High School administrator, members of the community and the support of the Winnipeg Dolphins to start the club. By 1981 the club was able to support itself with qualified coaching staff, eager swimmers and a strong executive. The club has attracted many coaches who have also achieved high standards.

Since then the Selkirk Dolphins have produced many strong swimmers and an exceptionally strong competitive club within the small community of Selkirk. The club has won many Small Club awards since their inception, including ManSask Small Club, Overall Small Club(Manitoba and Saskatchewan)and two Marvin MacDonald Awards. The Club has also been successful in having swimmers qualified for various National level competitions.

Michelle Stamm is currently the head coach of the Dolphins.  She has been coaching with the Selkirk Dolphins since 1996 gaining experience from the grassroots up to the full time head coach position. Michelle was one of the original members of the Selkirk Dolphins and a National level swimmer.
