Competitive Program:

To participate in Travel and Qualifying Meets swimmers are required to have Minimum 75% attendance. coaches discretion.

 

TAG          Group hours + 2 hours per week(in above level)

             

Swimmers selected into this group will be required to add 2 hours of training to their current practice schedule, not including dry land ( as discussed with the coach). The swimmers selected perform above the standards in all aspects of training, competition and commitment. A swimmer may be selected at any time of the year to participate in the Tag Group.

Group 1: 12.5 hrs per week

               Monday 5:00-7:00pm Tuesday 6:00 -8:00pm Wednesday 5:00-7:30pm

               Thursday 5:00-7:00pm, Friday 4:30-6:00pm, Saturday 6:30-9:00am

Competitive level for 14 & over age group swimmers (coaches discretion)who have achieved a AA or AAA standard. Dryland will be part of practice schedule to be determined at the beginning of SC and LC season.

We will increase training volume, resistance training and intensity. Processing / product of goals and results. Develop time management skills required to perform at a high level of competitive swimming and independent work ethics. Expectations to travel to higher level competition as part of the training plan.

 

Group 2: 10 hrs per week

               Monday 5:00-7:00pm Tuesday 6:00 -8:00pm Wednesday 6:30 - 8:00pm

               Thursday 5:00-7:00pm Saturday 6:30-9:00am

Competitive level for 14 & over age group swimmers (coaches discretion) Generally A or AA standard. Dryland to be determnined at the beginning of ea. season. It is extremely important to attend a variety of swim meets including 1 above your competitive achievement level.

We will increase training volume, resistance training and intensity. Processing / product of goals and results. Develop time management skills required to perform at a high level of competitive swimming and independent work ethics.

Your swimmer may be selected to the Tag Training Group.

 

Group 3: 8.5 hrs per week

               Tuesday 6:00-8:00 pm  Wednesday 5:00 - 6:30 pm

               Thursday 5:00 - 6:30 pm  Friday 4:30 - 6:00pm  Saturday 7:00 - 9:00am

This is our competitive level for 12-13 + 1 age group (coaches discretion). This level is for A level swimmers interested in acheiving a higher standard through goal setting and raising the bar in practices.

We will increase training volume, develop races strategies, create short and long term goals. Increase commitment to the sport of swimming, record in a daily log book.

Dry land will be outside the hours stated and determined at the beginning of the swim season.

Your swimmer may be selected to the Tag Training Group.

Group 4: 5.5 hrs per week

               Tuesday 6:00-8:00pm  Wednesday 5:00 - 6:30pm

               Saturday 7:00 - 9:00am

This is our competitive level  for 10-11 + 2 age group (coaches discretion). We will be working on improving stroke technique, learning racing skills (turns, starts) acceleration and incorporating resistance strength training. We will be discussing the importance of goal setting, proper nutrition and rest.

Your swimmer may be selected to the Tag Training Group.

 

Developmental Competitive Program

Group 5: 3 hrs. per week

               Tuesday 6:00 - 7:30pm and Saturday 7:30 - 9:00am

* as part of the planned practice session your swimmer may not be in the water for the full 1.5 hour session.*

This is an introductory competitive swim level. Your child should be able to swim 25 meters freestyle and backstroke without assistance or have succesfully completed our MINI program as determined by the coaching staff.

We will work on basic skills of swimming through simple training methods and drills, developing speed in short distances. Practices are designed to be enjoyable and tailored to individual needs in a group setting.

The swimmers will have an opportunity to participate in competitive meets throughout the season at various locations in and around Winnipeg.

 

Mini Program

10 week Program

The program is designed to develop the basic skills of swimming- sculling, kicking, streamline body position and the four strokes of competitive swimming.

We will hold 3 sessions through out the season. You child can re-register in the program until they have completed all that is required for the level. You can then register in the competitive program.

Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm Wednesday 6:30-7:30pm OR Saturdays 9:00-10:00am

      First session         September 17th – November 19th

      Second                 January 14th - March 17th Incl. Dolphins Swim Meet Feb 11

      Third                     April 14th - June 16th

                           

Swimmers will be able to participate in competitive meets suitable to their skill level held throughout the year. Attending our Swim Meet in Feb will be part of the practice plan either as a swimmer in the meet or a volunteer.

All swimmers will receive a progress report at the end of each session.

Cross Training Program

This program is a 2 day – 3 hour per week training program designed to develop aerobic capacity to assist you in improving in other sports such as track, triathlon etc. Athletes interested in this program should be 11 years and older and be able to swim 400 meters in at least 2 strokes. The program begins September 17, 2011 and ends June 16, 2012 unless they have acheived an A time standard they will continue to practice for Provincials.

Saturday 7:30 - 9:00am

Tuesday  6:00 - 7:30pm

 

You will be given a swimming training program specific for your needs according to your goals. If you decide that competitive swimming is something you would like to do you can then register in the appropriate group and continue on.

The swimmers will have an opportunity to participate in competitive meets throughout the season at various locations in and around Winnipeg.
